Creating risk maps

Based on the thresholds presented in chapter risk evaluation the affected area can be differentiated in several zones of risk. Highly endangered areas can be specified.

Risk maps, resulting from the explained method include the consequences of flood events in monetary values in combination with the return period as weighting factor and offer in this way decision makers a basis for sustainable planning.

When risk maps are presented in public, a clear plain risk zoning is necessary. High consternation will occur in areas with high damage potential, which are located near by the river.
